KatadataOTO – Subaru Indonesia has officially brought the high-performance division STI (Subaru Tecnica International) to Indonesia at the IIMS 2025 event, attended by representatives from Subaru Corporation Japan and STI's SuperGT GT300 driver, Takuto Iguchi.

For your information, the STI division will present Performance Parts for Subaru consumers who want a more enjoyable driving experience.

“Subaru Indonesia has officially launched STI Performance Parts with a focus on aerodynamics and handling. This is the first step in bringing STI performance to Subaru owners in Indonesia,” said Keisuke Hashimoto, from the Overseas Sales & Marketing Department of STI at JIExpo Kemayoran, Thursday (13/2).

He revealed that STI made history as the Japanese manufacturer that won the WRC world championship in 1995, 1996, and 1997. This achievement is claimed to have brought Subaru and STI to the highest level in the world of rally and motorsport.

Takuto Iguchi, as an STI driver, is said to have contributed and provided input during the development of STI Performance Parts. This helps to deliver a unique sensation when using the Subaru vehicle lineup, especially for motorsport enthusiasts.

In the future, STI will present various tuning components to improve the handling performance and aerodynamics of Subaru vehicles.

“This technology comes from research in the world of motorsport and is then applied to mass-produced products,” said Arie Christopher, Chief Executive Officer of Subaru Indonesia, on the same occasion.

Parts components from STI can also be seen directly at IIMS 2025. Some of them are the STI Sports Grille, Front Red Spoiler, Dry Carbon Rear Spoiler, and the STI Oil Filler Cap.

Visitors to the Subaru booth at IIMS 2025 can see three vehicle models that have been equipped with STI Performance Parts: the BRZ, WRX Sedan, and WRX Wagon.

For your information, the birth of STI dates back to 1972 when Subaru participated in the Southern Cross Rally in Australia using the Subaru Leone.

Using the Leone 4WD in the 1980 Safari Rally, Subaru became the first manufacturer to bring an AWD (All Wheel Drive) configured car to the WRC (World Rally Championship) event.

It was in 1988 that STI was founded and successfully set a world speed record. The STI team, led by its founder, Ryuichiro Kuze, set a 100,000 km record using a Subaru Legacy, driving at an average speed of 223.345 km/h for 447 hours non-stop.
