KatadataOTO – Toyota Indonesia successfully shipped at least 276,089 units of T-brand vehicles abroad from January to December 2024. This number still supports Indonesia's export market, which throughout the year only managed to release 472,194 units.
This figure represents a 5 percent correction from the export achievement in the same period in 2023. At that time, Toyota successfully shipped 290,772 units to various countries around the world.
However, the decrease is considered quite slim given the significant challenges the company had to face throughout the year.
However, thanks to support from various parties, from the government to the strong national automotive industry supply chain, from 2019 to 2024 Toyota Indonesia has consistently contributed about 61 percent of the total national CBU exports.
“Consistent export performance is certainly not something easily achieved. Toyota continues to collaborate with the entire supply chain, from upstream to downstream, through the performance of T-brand vehicle exports to maintain Indonesia's position as a global production and export base,” said Nandi Julyanto, President Director of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) in his official statement (31/01).
He also emphasized that they will maintain product quality to meet global market needs. Moreover, the number of locally produced electrified vehicle exports has reached 18,553 units.
This figure is up 111 percent compared to the 2023 achievement of only 8,792 units. This achievement was obtained from the export of 11,790 units of the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and 6,763 units of the Yaris Cross HEV.
Toyota Indonesia is also targeting to achieve the same level of T-brand vehicle exports in 2025. However, they will also explore new opportunities to expand export activities from the country.
“Toyota Indonesia is not only focused on exporting completely built-up vehicles, but also on developing conversion vehicles, accessories, and their derivatives according to global market demand. This step aims to present competitive and innovative automotive products,” concluded Bob Azam, Vice President Director of PT TMMIN.
