KatadataOTO – The Toyota bZ4X facelift was officially introduced at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2025. The car is now locally produced and will be a mainstay in developing the electric vehicle market in the country.

Until now, Toyota has not fully maximized its development of electric vehicles, especially in Indonesia. With this model being produced in Indonesia, it is hoped that it can become a new choice for customers.

“Let's not talk about local content levels yet, but the important thing is that we have started producing electric vehicles in Indonesia. This is proof that Toyota is increasingly developing electric vehicles,” said Bob Azam, Vice President Director of PT TMMIN (23/07).

Meanwhile, Hiroyuki Ueda, President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), revealed that the presence of the locally produced bZ4X will make the electric vehicle more affordable. Moreover, they have also ensured more optimal availability of spare parts for customers.

“This initiative not only reflects Toyota's commitment to providing inclusive mobility solutions but also contributes to job creation and increasing national technological independence,” he emphasized.

Although detailed specifications such as battery capacity and performance, interior, exterior, or the integration of the New T-Intouch for more complete connectivity were not disclosed, the Toyota bZ4X has received various improvements.

“As for the specifications, so far there are no differences from the global version. But we are only presenting the Front Wheel Drive (FWD) variant,” said Jap Ernando Demily, Marketing Director of PT TAM at GIIAS 2025.

In general, the Toyota bZ4X comes with an exterior design that is not much different from the previous one. The Japanese manufacturer has retained the hammerhead lamp design on the front but made it more assertive.

The car is also equipped with a thin LED bar connecting the DRL (Daytime Running Light), making it look sleeker.

Inside the cabin, Toyota has installed a 14-inch infotainment screen ready to pamper passengers during the journey. Additionally, the car is also equipped with a dual wireless charger and 64-color ambient lighting.

The Toyota bZ4X FWD version uses a 74.7 kWh capacity battery, enough to travel a distance of 505 km. The charging time is also relatively short, as it only takes about 30 minutes to go from 10 percent to 80 percent.

“The car will start to be sold at the end of 2025,” Ernando concluded.
