KatadataOTO – Toyota bZ4X is confirmed to have Completely Knocked Down (CKD) status starting this year. The decision was announced at the GIIAS 2025 event.

It should be noted, the only electric car from Toyota initially launched in Indonesia with a price of IDR 1.1 billion on the road in Jakarta and was fully imported from Japan.

The local assembly of the Toyota bZ4X is intended to support the government's commitment to accelerating electrification in the country.

“The local content, according to the LCEV (Low Carbon Emission Vehicle) calculation (regulation), is 40 percent,” said Nandi Julyanto, President Director of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) in Jakarta recently.

Before the bZ4X, Toyota already had experience assembling electrification lines such as the Kijang Innova Zenix HEV.

The battery cell components for that model are still imported, but the assembly is done at Toyota's facilities.

A similar scheme is likely to be applied to the Toyota bZ4X electric car when it is assembled locally later.

“The bZ4X (will be locally assembled) this year. So far, that's the plan,” Nandi affirmed.

Regarding the price tag, PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) previously confirmed that the price of the Toyota bZ4X CKD version will decrease and is expected to be more competitive for consumers.

However, the Japanese manufacturer is still keeping the latest Toyota bZ4X price information under wraps.

“After being produced locally, the price of the Toyota bZ4X will be lower than before. But how much, we can't say yet,” said Jap Ernando Demily, Marketing Director of PT TAM, on the sidelines of GIIAS 2025.

The specifications are believed to be the same as the global version which just received a number of updates in March 2025.

The Toyota bZ4X in Indonesia is available in only one variant with a 73.1 kWh battery. The latest version has an option for a smaller capacity power storage at 57.7 kWh.

The Toyota bZ4X with the 57.7 kWh battery type will only be available in a front-wheel drive (FWD) option.

On a single charge, the bZ4X electric car is claimed to be able to travel a maximum of 573 kilometers based on the WLTP testing method.

In terms of exterior, it is not much different from the Toyota bZ4X currently marketed in the country.

Meanwhile, the interior is equipped with a center console and a new instrument panel design. A 14-inch head unit is included as standard for all Toyota bZ4X types.
