KatadataOTO – Toyota FJ Cruiser was officially introduced at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. This car is planned to be produced in Thailand starting next year. Its presence is believed to be positively welcomed by 4WD SUV enthusiasts, especially in Asia.
Interestingly, the car will use the 2,700 cc 2TR-FE engine, which has been used in several of Toyota's flagship models in Asia. From the Fortuner and Hilux to the Innova, they all use it.
The engine has proven its toughness, capable of producing 160 hp and 246 Nm of torque. This performance is then channeled to all four wheels through a Super ECT transmission.
Even more interestingly, the car uses the IMV platform, which is already used in the Toyota Hilux Rangga, Innova, and Fortuner. However, the Japanese manufacturer has made several reinforcements in some parts, making the body more rigid and easier to control.

Toyota FJ Cruiser comes with a length of 4,575 mm, a width of 1,855 mm, and a height of 1,960 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,580 mm. Compared to the Land Cruiser series, this model is quite compact.
This also impacts driving comfort, as it becomes easier for the driver to maneuver. This is because the turning radius is quite small, at only 5.5 meters.
The boxy design, which has long been its hallmark, is still maintained by Toyota. The tough impression is further enhanced by the presence of a large bumper at the front.
Interestingly, the front and rear bumpers can be removed, making repairs easier. This unique feature also makes it easier for owners to carry out modifications to suit their tastes.
Inside the cabin, the Toyota FJ Cruiser features an attractive design, and the dashboard instruments are made to be easily recognizable by the driver.

The car is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes various safety features, including the Pre-collision Safety System. With this, it is hoped that journeys will be safer.
Unfortunately, as of this writing, Toyota has not yet provided information on when this car will be brought to and sold in Indonesia.
