KatadataOTO – The current era of electrification is being enlivened by many manufacturers from China. However, recently Toyota does not want to be outdone and has introduced several new models, one of which is the C-HR+.

But there was another mysterious figure shown during the introduction of new products that will target Europe first, appearing like a pickup.

“The three parts (of the EV strategy) will focus on developing consumer lifestyles, just as they push us to achieve carbon neutrality," said Yoshihiro Nakata, President and Chief Executive of Toyota Motor Europe, quoted from Carscoops, Thursday (13/03).

It is believed that the model is not the same as the electric-powered Hilux prototype that was recently tested by Toyota.

A Toyota representative was still reluctant to reveal or provide further leaks regarding their newest electric pickup.

This is quite attention-grabbing because it means Toyota will offer an increasing variety of environmentally friendly vehicles for various consumer needs, not just SUVs and MPVs.

Judging from the silhouette displayed by Toyota, the dimensions of the front section look large, indicating that the model is a double cabin and not a single cabin.

In Thailand, the electric Hilux was introduced as the Hilux Revo BEV, which uses the single cabin variant as its base. Toyota claims the model will go on sale there towards the end of 2025.

When the production version arrives, Toyota's electric pickup has the potential to become a new competitor to the BYD Shark.

Although there is no further information regarding Toyota's electric pickup, it is possible that the T-badged manufacturer will use the EPU Concept as its basis.

For your information, the Toyota EPU Concept debuted in 2023 as a double cabin pickup with a monocoque chassis. Its size is quite large, with a claimed length of almost five meters.

The rear bed has been optimized to accommodate consumer needs, especially for those who are often active outdoors.

As a pure electric car, the EPU Concept offers a quiet driving experience and a good center of gravity to maximize handling and comfort while driving the vehicle.

With a capacity for five people, the L x W x H dimensions of the Toyota EPU Concept are 5,070 mm x 1,910 mm x 1,710 mm.
