Reportedly making an appearance at GIIAS 2025, Toyota has a GR-line car with powerful specifications for racing.
KatadataOTO – PT TAM (Toyota Astra Motor) is preparing a number of new models this year, one of which will liven up the GR (Gazoo Racing) performance line.
It should be noted that Toyota already offers several GR models to consumers, but they are still road-legal, meaning they can be used on regular roads.
This time, the model will be specifically for racing and will likely not be legal for use on public roads or as a daily car.
“This is a very interesting product that can be used for racing. So, this is not a daily car,” said Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director of PT TAM, when met on the sidelines of IIMS 2025, JIExpo Kemayoran, Wednesday (19/2).
He revealed that the newest product filling the GR segment at Toyota will be different from previous models, as it is optimized for racing use.
“If you use it on the road, it might be just to get to the racetrack, (because) it's overpowered,” explained Anton.
For your information, Toyota currently offers at least four Pure GR models or performance variants, such as the GR Yaris, GR 86, GR Corolla, and GR Supra. Toyota's newest product will be present at one of the automotive exhibitions in mid-2025.
There are several candidates, for example, the latest GR Corolla, for which orders have been open in Japan since February 4, 2025. The model will debut on March 3.
Another model that has fierce power and is not for use on public roads is the supercar twin of the Lexus LFA, the GR GT3. The model uses a 4,000 cc twin-turbo V8 engine with a hybrid system.
The claimed power output is 720 hp, but it can reach 900 hp when combined with the performance of the hybrid technology.
“Wait for it, maybe at GIIAS (2025), just wait for the date,” Anton affirmed.
The rest are models with additional bodykit components and different suspension settings, named GR Sport. The newest is the New Agya Stylix, an LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) but made to look sportier.
For an overview, here is the price range of GR cars offered by Toyota to consumers.
