KatadataOTO – The latest Toyota Rangga pickup has an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) version that was promised to arrive in Indonesia in early 2025. However, it has been confirmed that the launch needs to be postponed for several reasons.

According to PT TAM (Toyota Astra Motor), there is still a lot of good input and suggestions regarding the Rangga SUV. Therefore, these will be implemented first so that it can meet consumer expectations when it is launched later.

“Hopefully, if it's all sorted out, it won't be long; we can launch it mid-year, or in the third quarter at the latest,” said Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director of PT TAM, when met at JIExpo Kemayoran some time ago.

For your information, the Hilux Rangga SUV was presented as a prototype during the Rangga launch event last year. Its front fascia maintains the original identity, and it has an additional two rows of passenger seats.

Entering the cabin, the interior is indeed quite simple. There aren't many modern features like those found in most new cars, for example, a large head unit screen.

Anton explained that there are several things to be improved on the Rangga SUV before it is ready to be marketed to domestic consumers.

“Issues with the interior, seating comfort, getting in and out (of the cabin), there are many. Various valid inputs from Indonesian consumers,” he said.

For your information, the Toyota All New Hilux Rangga SUV is based on the Hilux Rangga Cab 7 Chassis Diesel High AT, which is the top variant of the pickup.

The engine used for the diesel type is the 2GD-FTV 2,400 cc, which is powerful yet claimed to remain fuel-efficient even when the vehicle is fully loaded.

The second-row seats of the model can be reclined or folded to expand the cabin space and provide access to the rear seats.

Interestingly, even with the third-row seats not folded, the Rangga SUV offers a spacious trunk to accommodate the owner's cargo.

The seats have an elegant impression with a brown color, reinforcing the adventurous and tough feel of the Rangga SUV.

Toyota also provides other features to pamper passengers such as Front Electric Power Windows, an Electric Seat Mirror, a 7-inch AVX Audio with AACP, a Rear Parking Camera, and a Back Sensor.

Regarding the price, the SUV, a collaboration with the coachbuilder New Armada, is estimated to be sold in the range of Rp 400 million to Rp 500 million.
