Toyota partners with technology company Nvidia to develop self-driving features for their products.
KatadataOTO – Japanese manufacturer, Toyota will partner with Nvidia to develop autonomous car technology for future Toyota vehicles.
It should be noted that many vehicles, especially Chinese cars, currently use technology from Nvidia to develop features and driving safety.
Toyota's decision to partner with Nvidia in car development could increase their competitiveness against Chinese cars, which are widely known for their abundant technology and features.
Nvidia itself is a technology company from the United States that also often contributes to developing features in vehicles.
Announced at the CES 2025 (Consumer Electronic Show) event in the US, Toyota's vehicle lineup will be equipped with the latest self-driving features and driving safety technology from Drive AGX and DriveOS.
“We have already collaborated with Toyota on cloud systems and we are very excited to expand our partnership in the automotive field,” said Ali Kani, Vice President of Automotive at Nvidia, as quoted by TechCrunch on Wednesday (8/1).
In more detail, DriveOS itself is an autonomous vehicle system from Nvidia that offers real-time security and AI assistance integrated with the car's features.
Meanwhile, Drive AGX technology is embedded in vehicles to support safer self-driving features.
On the other hand, Nvidia acknowledges that many manufacturers from China such as BYD, Nio, Xiaomi, and Xpeng have become the standard for autonomous vehicle functions.
“The biggest impact is the incredible technology coming from China,” said Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia.
Also at CES 2025, a well-known brand from China, Zeekr, showcased a new autonomous technology, a controller built with Nvidia's Drive AGX Thor.
The new system will be embedded in Zeekr's latest models in 2025. The vehicle will be able to handle various smart driving scenarios to assist the driver during maneuvers like parking.
Their newest product, the Zeekr RT, will adopt this technology and is currently being tested before it goes into mass production.
