KatadataOTO – A sub-brand of the Chery Group, Lepas made its global debut in Indonesia at the GIIAS 2025 event. Three initial models were introduced: the L4, L6, and L8.

The Lepas L8 is touted to be the first product to be introduced to Indonesian consumers in the near future.

Despite being a newcomer, Lepas has expressed its commitment to local assembly in the country, just like Chery.

“Of course in Indonesia, all models from the Chery Group will be locally assembled,” said Ricky He, Deputy Country Director of Lepas Indonesia, when met in Tangerang on Wednesday (30/07).

This includes their newest SUV, the Lepas L8. However, he was still reluctant to elaborate on the timeline for local assembly.

He confirmed that the local assembly of the Lepas vehicle line will be carried out at the facility owned by PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM).

Furthermore, the Lepas vehicle line will prioritize plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV) to support the government's commitment.

“For subsequent models like the L4 and L6, we will only provide new energy vehicles (NEV),” he asserted.

For your information, Lepas offers a line of sport utility vehicle (SUV) crossovers with an elegant style targeting the younger generation.

In the future, the entire Lepas dealer network is said to blend an automotive feel with lifestyle.

More entertainment options will be added to Lepas dealerships so that consumers can feel comfortable when purchasing vehicles at official outlets.

The Lepas vehicle line can be seen directly at the booth during the GIIAS 2025 event. However, the units are only for display.

As of now, Lepas has not clearly revealed the specifications of their three products. The prices will also only be announced at the launch.

However, Lepas has provided a hint about the price range for its car lineup, which is around Rp 550 million to Rp 650 million.

Lepas will face stiff competition in the crowded SUV crossover segment. Currently, some products in the same segment include the Honda HR-V and Chery C5.
