KatadataOTO – Lamborghini Urus SE PHEV is a plug-in hybrid car from the Italian manufacturer. China was chosen as the country for its global debut.

This hybrid technology sports car was presented at Auto China Beijing 2024 on April 25. There is a specific reason why Lamborghini chose to debut this model in China.

“This is because China, for Lamborghini, is a strategic and important market,” said Francesco Scardaoni, Regional Director of Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific in Jakarta, on Sunday (23/11).

Premium vehicles and electrification models have indeed received a positive response in China. Therefore, Lamborghini sees many opportunities that can be leveraged through the presence of the Urus SE PHEV there.

Previously in 2012, Francesco revealed that a prototype or concept version of the Lamborghini Urus had already been presented in Beijing in 2012.

“So we wanted to return there with a completely new (similar) model, which is now a hybrid,” said Francesco.

After China, Lamborghini then began to introduce the Urus SE PHEV in various other countries, including Indonesia.

This makes Lamborghini the first luxury sports car brand whose entire vehicle lineup is equipped with hybrid technology.

He is confident that amidst the tight competition with Chinese manufacturers, there is an added value maintained by Lamborghini that keeps consumers loyal.

“They (Lamborghini enthusiasts) understand that the hybridization of the Lamborghini vehicle line does not change anything (about the driving experience),” Francesco emphasized.

For your information, the Lamborghini Urus SE PHEV is also starting to be marketed in Indonesia this year. The model is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine combined with an electric motor, producing 588 kW (789 hp) of power and a peak torque of 950 Nm.

For comparison, the previous variant, the Lamborghini Urus S, produces a peak power of 657 hp and a torque of 850 Nm.

The PHEV technology in the Lamborghini Urus SE PHEV is supported by an additional 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery.

That ferocious power is also balanced by extra range. If relying solely on the battery, the pure electric range of the Lamborghini Urus SE PHEV is 60 kilometers.
