KatadataOTO – Mitsubishi Destinator was officially introduced in Indonesia on Thursday (17/07). This car is the production version of the DST Concept prototype.

PT MMKSI (Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia) did not present a hybrid variant for this model, but rather a 1,500 cc engine with turbo technology.

It should be noted that the Mitsubishi Destinator is equipped with the second-generation engine from the one used in the Eclipse Cross and Outlander, with the code 4B40.

Responding to the assumption that the engine could be fuel-inefficient, Mitsubishi asserted that the Destinator's engine has been developed to maintain efficiency.

“If the engine is too big, the power is good but it doesn't guarantee efficiency. We want to offer consumers good performance and fuel efficiency,” said Masahiro Ito, Chief Product Specialist of MMC (Mitsubishi Motors Corporation) in Jakarta, on Thursday.

According to Masahiro, this advantage is Mitsubishi Destinator's asset to compete amidst the onslaught of electrification and hybrid cars.

“We found a good solution, which is this engine. So we chose it (for the Mitsubishi Destinator),” he said.

In the same class, a rival like the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) is already equipped with PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) technology.

For context, the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH is currently priced at IDR 519 million on the road in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the price of the Mitsubishi Destinator will likely be revealed at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025 event.

However, Mitsubishi is still reluctant to provide any leaks regarding the Destinator's price for the Indonesian market.

Based on preliminary information KatadataOTO obtained from a salesperson, the price range for the Mitsubishi Destinator is from IDR 400 million to IDR 500 million, depending on the variant.

Interested customers can already place an order by preparing a booking fee of just IDR 5 million.

For your information, the Mitsubishi Destinator will be available to consumers in four variants: GLS, Exeed, Ultimate, and Ultimate Premium.

The highest trim of the Mitsubishi Destinator is equipped with a Yamaha audio system, just like in the XForce.

A new color option is also presented to consumers, namely Lunar Blue. The rest are chromatic shades: Jet Black Mica, Quartz White Pearl, Black Silver Metallic, and Graphite Grey Metallic.
