KatadataOTONew motorcycle sales are predicted to increase again in the near future. This is because Eid 2025 is just around the corner.

Just like in previous years, many people buy new two-wheeled vehicles to use during the holiday.

“Usually, the increase (in new motorcycle sales) is two weeks before and after Eid,” said Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI (Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association) to KatadataOTO, Wednesday (12/03).

Sigit explained that this phenomenon is a blessing for the two-wheeled vehicle industry. This is because their sales can skyrocket during the holiday.

In fact, the numbers are quite large. It's a breath of fresh air for manufacturers amid unstable economic conditions.

“In previous years, the (increase in new motorcycle sales) was around five to seven percent,” Sigit continued.

According to Sigit, there are several factors that make people buy new vehicles ahead of Eid 2025. The first is the need for mobility.

“But some might want to look stylish when they go home (to their hometown), that's also possible,” Sigit affirmed.

In addition, discounts offered by dealers also stimulate people to own a two-wheeled vehicle during Eid 2025.

This leads to a significant increase in new motorcycle sales before and after the holiday.

New Motorcycle Sales are Thriving

Meanwhile, in February 2025, AISI recorded 581,277 two-wheeled vehicles sent from factories to dealers, also known as wholesales.

The number above increased by 4.04 percent compared to the data from February 2024, as that period only recorded 558,685 units.

Seeing this achievement, AISI admitted to being quite pleased with the brilliant performance of new motorcycle sales in the country.

AISI revealed there are several aspects why the two-wheeled vehicle market became active again in the second month of 2025.

"First, motorcycles are currently perceived by consumers as an affordable means of transportation," said Sigit.

Then there are several stimuli that encourage people to spend their money. For example, the option of a low down payment or DP, which makes many people want to buy a new motorcycle.

"Then, if you look at it, the condition of motorcycle credit (figures) is currently stable. There are no fluctuations or increases either," Sigit concluded his statement.
