Federal Oil took action against two motorcycle workshops in East Kalimantan for selling counterfeit oil.
KatadataOTO – Federal Oil has again uncovered the circulation of counterfeit oil in the East Kalimantan region. This is done to ensure consumer convenience.
After eradicating the circulation of lubricants that did not meet specifications in Jambi, a similar case was recently uncovered in Balikpapan and Samarinda.
Based on the investigation, 25 bottles of counterfeit oil were found at Puncak Motor in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
Then, 5 cartons and 19 bottles of fake lubricant were seized at VM Motor, located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan.
The two motorcycle workshops mentioned above were distributing Federal Ultratec. The products were proven not to meet factory specifications.
“We continue to make efforts to protect consumers from the risks of using lubricants that do not meet specifications,” said Alfin Kurniadi, B2C Sales Director of PT EMLI (ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia) in a press release (17/11).
Bong, the owner of the Puncak Motor workshop, and Victor, the head of VM Motor, admitted their mistake. They issued a public apology through local media.
According to the statements from both workshop owners, they obtained the counterfeit lubricant from an unscrupulous distributor.
The person made the deliveries directly, without a courier or logistics service. The unscrupulous distributor is still at large.
Federal Oil conducted the raid together with law enforcement officials, workshop partners, and the community.
“We urge consumers to always buy Federal Oil products from the official network. So they can get maximum quality and convenience,” explained Alfin.
The manufacturer also continues to educate consumers to buy original products. Their efforts include a program with phone credit prizes.
Through the purchase of Federal Matic and Federal Racing Matic, which is ongoing until November 30, 2025.
The way to do this is by verifying the product's authenticity by scanning the QR Code on the back of the packaging label.
This is to ensure consumer convenience in getting quality products. The program above is also intended to increase consumer awareness.
Motorcycle users must be thorough and careful in choosing original lubricants.
Throughout 2024 and 2025, Federal Oil has continued to monitor the circulation of counterfeit oil. This serves as a stern warning to unscrupulous distributors.
