KatadataOTO – The circulation of counterfeit oil seems endless in Indonesia. As was recently discovered in the city of Jambi, Sumatra.

The Federal Oil investigation team found 30 cartons of Federal Ultratec lubricant. The oil was proven to not meet specifications and was not an official product of PT ExxonMobil lubricants Indonesia (EMLI).

The counterfeit oil products were found at Ruko Liverpool, Jalan A.R Saleh, Paal Merah, Jambi City, Jambi Province.

A thorough identification and check was carried out at the location. The individuals involved then admitted their wrongdoing and issued a public apology.

“We remain committed to maintaining the comfort and safety of our consumers. We are collaborating with various parties to ensure that Federal Oil products in the market are official and of high quality,” said Alfin Kurniadi, B2C Sales Director of PT EMLI in a press release (17/10).

It was further stated that the company urges consumers to buy genuine Federal Oil products. This is to ensure maximum quality and comfort.

Furthermore, to educate consumers, Federal Oil is still running the "Definitely More Comfortable, Federal Oil" campaign program.

Consumers can get phone credit after purchasing Federal Matic and Federal Racing Matic products. This campaign is still ongoing until November 30, 2025.

Through the program above, consumers can verify the authenticity of Federal Oil by scanning the QR Code on the back of the packaging.

The counterfeit oil case in Jambi serves as a warning to other perpetrators out there. Trading lubricants that do not meet specifications can have fatal consequences.

This is because counterfeit oil can harm many parties, including consumers. Such as damage to vehicle engines due to lubricants that do not meet specifications.

Federal Oil will continue to improve supervision and education for consumers as well as partner workshops.

The uncovering of counterfeit oil has so far been carried out in the regions of Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Banjarmasin, and Jambi.
