KatadataOTO – A motorcycle transport truck caught fire in Torgamba District, South Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, while carrying dozens of motorcycles. The incident occurred on March 2, 2025, at 01:15 AM WIB.

The incident went viral as several videos circulated showing the truck continuing to move even as a large fire blazed in the back. From the information obtained, the vehicle was carrying 46 motorcycles.

During the journey, a fire started at the rear of the truck. Upon inspection, it was found that a motorcycle was on fire.

The driver reportedly tried to extinguish it but was unsuccessful. He was then advised by residents to immediately go to the Torgamba District office because there was a fire truck there.

The driver then immediately took the vehicle to the location so it could be handled promptly.

Unfortunately, by the time it reached the location, the truck fire was already very large. Fortunately, the driver managed to escape even though the fire had reportedly entered the cabin.

Soon after, firefighters arrived and immediately began efforts to stop the blaze. However, the size of the fire made it increasingly difficult to stop.

By the time the fire was extinguished, all the motorcycles and the transport truck were completely burned.

As of this writing, the cause of the incident is not yet known. However, the losses are estimated to reach Rp 2.4 billion, considering the truck was also completely burned.

Frequent Accidents

South Labuhanbatu Regency itself had also previously gone viral due to an egg transport truck that had an accident with a pickup truck some time ago. In that incident, one person was confirmed to have died.

Unfortunately, the incident went viral because a video spread of residents securing eggs from the crashed truck.

Additionally, in South Labuhanbatu, there is a location called Kodok Hill, which is known for its quite extreme incline. Many vehicles have difficulty passing through the area.

This requires drivers to be extra careful to arrive safely at their destination, especially when passing through.
