KatadataOTO – The government finally launched five economic incentive policy packages on Monday (02/06). One of them is a toll rate discount.
The discount given reaches 20 percent. It is intended for 110 million four-wheeled vehicles.
Drivers can take advantage of the assistance from President Prabowo Subianto starting this Thursday (05/06).
Thus, it is hoped that this can stimulate the economy in the country, especially when entering the holiday season.
So that people can use the toll road more affordably when they want to go on vacation with family members.
"This is in conjunction with the start of the school holidays and the new academic year," said Sri Mulyani, Minister of Finance (Menkeu), as quoted by Antara.
Furthermore, Sri Mulyani said that the toll rate discount provided by the government is non-state budget (non-APBN).
It is implemented through a circular letter from the Ministry of Public Works to Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT).
Sri Mulyani also hopes that the assistance provided can maintain economic growth momentum and encourage public activity during the school holidays.
Considering the toll rate discount will be valid until July 31, 2025, this policy can be utilized for a fairly long period.
"They can increase domestic economic activity by traveling within the country," the Minister of Finance affirmed.
For your information, the provision of the toll rate discount had been leaked by the Minister of Public Works (PU) some time ago.
At that time, they claimed to be discussing the assistance with various parties, including several BUJTs.
"We are starting discussions with BUJTs to provide a toll rate discount that will likely be at a minimum the same as what we provided during Eid 2025,” said Dody Hanggodo, Minister of Public Works, on a separate occasion.
Dody stated that the decision to grant the toll rate discount must be discussed with the BUJTs, considering it will affect the revenue of the BUJTs as both investors and toll road operators.
In addition, it also needs to be discussed whether there will be additional compensation from the government to the BUJTs regarding this toll rate discount policy.
"The provision of the toll rate discount is indeed a directive from the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs during a coordination meeting, to provide incentives from all ministries/agencies to maintain high economic growth,” Dody concluded.
