Pertamina has prepared anticipatory steps for a fuel price increase following the escalation of the Israel-Iran war.

KatadataOTO – The war between Israel and Iran has not yet subsided. In fact, the conflict between the two countries is heating up.
Especially after Donald Trump, the President of the United States, decided to launch an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. Such as in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
In response to the attack, Iran made a new decision. They want to close the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping.
Of course, this policy is bad news for a number of countries. Because the world's crude oil supply will be hampered.
Automatically, the price of fuel oil (BBM) will soar in a number of countries, including in Indonesia.
Pertamina does not want to let that happen. They claim to have prepared a number of anticipatory steps.
“Pertamina has anticipated this by securing our ships,” said Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, to Antara on Monday (23/06).
Fadjar said that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran will impact the distribution of crude oil to the country.
Because the location is passed by 20 percent of the world's crude oil shipping. Therefore, they are preparing a new route for Pertamina's fuel transport ships.
“We are diverting the ship's route to a safe path through Oman and India,” Fadjar continued.
However, he could not yet confirm whether Pertamina's fuel prices will increase at the beginning of next month or not.
Considering that diverting the route of fuel transport ships forces them to incur greater costs.
“Regarding operational costs, we are still checking. (Crude oil stock) is still safe so far,” Fadjar affirmed.
On the other hand, a similar sentiment was also expressed by Muhammad Baron, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina International Shipping (PIS).
He explained that they want to prioritize the safety of PIS crews and ships amidst the escalating war between Iran and Israel.
“Regarding the planned closure (of the Strait of Hormuz), we will implement an alternative route plan to guarantee the supply chain,” said Baron.
Baron stated that this state-owned enterprise will transport crude oil according to domestic needs.
So it is hoped that it can meet the demand for fuel from drivers throughout the country.
