KatadataOTO – Xpeng made its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025 at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
One of the things that caught the attention of visitors to GIIAS 2025 was the flying car Xpeng AeroHT X2.
The vehicle is an electric take-off and landing (eVTOL) flying car.
Equipped with two seats, it is designed for urban travel.
The manufacturer from China admitted it is considering bringing the Xpeng AeroHT to be marketed in Indonesia.
However, they have not yet disclosed when the plan will be realized.
"We are very open to that opportunity, but it will highly depend on the regulations in Indonesia," said James Wu, Vice President of Xpeng at GIIAS 2025.
For your information, the Xpeng AeroHT is named the Land Aircraft Carrier. It is expected to be marketed starting in 2026.
It should be noted that the Land Aircraft Carrier is modular. There is a kind of mothership or a six-wheeled parent vehicle that stores the flying car.
The Xpeng flying car can not only be controlled manually. But it is also capable of operating automatically, or autonomously.
According to circulating reports, this product is capable of flying up to 20 km with a flight duration of 15-20 minutes.
Citing the official Xpeng website, the price of this flying car is 300 thousand US dollars (USD) or around Rp 5 billion in the Chinese market.
Xpeng is optimistic that the Land Aircraft Carrier will be in demand by the public. It could even sell up to 10 thousand units a year.
Moreover, the Xpeng car can be relied upon to meet daily needs. Such as being used for routes within the city.
The AeroHT X2 is equipped with a redundancy system, spherical environmental detection, autonomous landing and return, as well as ground monitoring.
Then there are also real-time video, an omnidirectional camera, and an emergency ballistic parachute.
In addition, this car supports manual and autopilot modes to make it easier for the driver during air travel.
In the future, the autonomous vehicle will be further developed. So it can travel longer distances.
However, users will be required to have a driver's license and a modified version of a pilot's license for its operation.
Lastly, Xpeng is also said to have built multi-layered systems for control, powertrain, and communication in case of operational failure.
