KatadataOTO – Several automotive manufacturers have officially discontinued sales of certain models to be replaced by new variants or products.

PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS), for example, recently officially discontinued sales of the Baleno for the Indonesian market.

The Suzuki Baleno itself is a hatchback priced at Rp 200 million and above, entering Indonesia as a CBU (Completely Built Up) or fully imported unit.

However, the manufacturer has prepared a new model to replace the Baleno, namely the Suzuki Fronx.

The Suzuki Fronx comes in more variants, including a mild hybrid. It is also now a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model, assembled at PT SIS's facility.

Then, PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) discontinued sales of the top variant of one of their flagship Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), the HR-V RS Turbo.

That model was then replaced by a hybrid variant, the HR-V e:HEV, which is offered at a lower price tag in the Rp 480 million range.

A similar step was taken by Toyota. The brand is introducing the Veloz Hybrid towards the end of 2025.

Sales of the gasoline engine variant of the Veloz will be discontinued after the new model's arrival. Consumers who want a gasoline-powered type can consider the Avanza.

Speaking of Chinese brands, Chery appears to have removed two models from its official website, namely the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 5X.

However, according to Gaikindo data, Chery is still distributing units of both products from the factory to dealers.

The model confirmed to be discontinued is the Omoda 5 GT. The product was previously available as a higher variant of the Chery C5, also known as the Omoda 5.

“Only a few units (of the Omoda 5 GT are left at dealers). Currently, we are only offering those two (Chery C5 and E5),” said Zeng Shuo, Vice President of PT CSI in Jakarta some time ago.

The main difference from the Chery C5 is that the Omoda 5 GT is equipped with turbo technology and uses a 1,600 cc engine.
