Central KUD Supports the People's EV Ecosystem, Prepares Public EV Charging Stations.

KatadataOTO – The Central Village Unit Cooperative or Induk KUD supports the government's plan to provide transportation that is accessible to the public, including in rural areas.

One of the ways is through the proposed production of a people's car. It is known that the vehicle will be assembled by PT Pindad and will be electric-powered.

Therefore, Induk KUD will help develop infrastructure such as charging stations and repair workshops.

Considering Induk KUD has branches spread across various village areas, it understands the mapping of its ecosystem distribution.

“We have offices and posts in the provinces. From the regency and sub-district levels, we have KUDs, and we will provide land for workshops,” said Portasius Nggedi, President Director of Induk KUD in Tangerang recently.

He revealed that his party has also begun preparations by collaborating with members in several regions to participate in training on handling the electric-powered people's car.

Meanwhile, regarding the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) ecosystem, Induk KUD will engage a third party to build these facilities.

“For the electric car charging stations, we are collaborating with external parties. We have indeed requested 250 units for an initial installation trial,” said Portasius.

According to him, his party is currently collaborating with foreign partners to maximize the EV ecosystem for the people's car.

Portasius emphasized that the government is directing cooperatives to take part in developing strategic industries, including the people's car.

The people's car will later be distributed by Induk KUD to village communities. The predicted price range is Rp 50 million.

This is not much different from the Rural Multipurpose Mechanical Tool or AMMDes, which was once offered at around Rp 70 million.

Induk KUD will distribute the vehicle line to the community according to their needs. For example, to transport agricultural products and other cargo.

“Perhaps the rice can be transported by this car, so there's no need to use a truck which incurs a large service fee,” said Portasius.

The exact technical specifications and appearance of the people's car are not yet known, but it is believed they will not be too different from the AMMDes.

Its dimensions are compact, but it is designed to be robust enough to handle rural road conditions and the daily mobility of workers.
