KatadataOTO – Aletra is starting to enter the Indonesian electric car market. They are relying on the L8 EV to attract consumers.
The Indonesian brand revealed that there are several things that differentiate them from other Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturers.
"Our approach is indeed more comfort-oriented. For drivers who are not used to (driving) an EV, they might get used to a smoother pedal," said Christo Antyo, Product Manager of Aletra in Magelang, on Friday (10/10).
Christo stated that the Aletra L8 EV is suitable for everyone. And it is easy for anyone to drive.
Therefore, people do not need to adapt much when driving Aletra's electrification line.
"An example that was just added is the feel of a gasoline automatic car that has a kickdown. In eco mode, if the gas pedal is pressed 80 percent, it feels like a gasoline car's kickdown," he continued.
Through this setting, Aletra claims that the driving feel of the L8 EV is similar to that of a conventional-engine car.
So consumers won't be too awkward with the characteristics of an electric car, which has quite a large torque.
"Instant torque is still there in sport mode, although we did make it smoother," added Christo.
They claim to have collaborated with Geely to present an electric car that suits the characteristics of consumers in the country.
Therefore, with support from Geely, they are very confident about competing in the national electric car market.
"If you look at their history, they like to acquire brands that specialize in quality (and) safety. For example, many engineers from Europe have also joined," he concluded.
Christo ensures that the Aletra L8 EV has the best quality in its class. It is also able to offer more comfort compared to competitor products, such as the BYD M6.
"So it's back to the consumers, let them choose and try the product for themselves," Christo affirmed.
For your information, the Aletra L8 EV carries a drive motor with a power of 120 kW or equivalent to 161 hp. The peak torque reaches 240 Nm.
It is then paired with a short blade bulletproof battery with a capacity of 64.74 kWh. It is claimed to be able to take the Aletra L8 EV as far as 540 km on a single charge (CLTC).
As for the top speed, it is at 160 km per hour. It can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km per hour in just 10.7 seconds.
