BYD M9 officially launched with various advantages to challenge Toyota Alphard, which dominates the premium MPV market.
By Adi Hidayat
The BYD M9 is paired with a 1,500 cc gasoline engine that is already equipped with plug-in hybrid technology. The powertrain is capable of producing 115 kW or about 154 hp.
This power is then combined with an electric motor producing 200 kW or 268.2 hp. Thanks to this combination, the car can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
Despite its high performance, BYD claims that the M9's fuel consumption remains competitive. In fact, when the gas tank and battery are full, this car can travel for more than 1,000 km.
