He did not deny the possibility of another backorder if demand explodes. But he is confident that PT HIM is capable of supplying according to Chery's needs.

He then emphasized that more new products will be presented to consumers. The hope is that this will help increase Chery's sales volume throughout 2025.

New Products as a Weapon

The wholesale figures (distribution from factory to dealer) for the J6 electric car are starting to overtake Chery's first EV (Electric Vehicle) in Indonesia, the Omoda E5.

In terms of retail, Chery J6 sales have exceeded 2,000 units as of 2025. This is catching up to the Omoda E5's achievement of 4,000 units since its debut in February 2024.

This is claimed to show the significant influence of new product launches in helping to boost vehicle sales.

However, another strategy to consider is the target segment model. According to Budi, one of the factors in the decline of Omoda E5 sales is the proliferation of SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) crossover EV options in the Rp 400 million price range.

Meanwhile, an EV with a boxy, off-road style design priced in the Rp 500 million range is not yet available in the country.

“The presence of the J6 strengthens our EV lineup in Indonesia. If we look at it, consumers who buy the J6 are not running from the Omoda E5, because the segment is indeed different,” said Budi on a separate occasion.
