It should be noted that in Thailand, several government policies tend to be more favorable for manufacturers selling environmentally friendly vehicles like hybrid cars.

In fact, the price of hybrid cars is said to be lower than conventional vehicles. This becomes a consideration for potential customers before buying a new car.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the government has just formalized regulations regarding incentives for hybrid cars. The hope is to attract more consumers to switch and to entice investors to sell their products domestically.

Ceased Local Assembly Since Mid-Year

Towards the end of May 2024, TC Subaru or Subaru Thailand announced that starting in 2025, products sold in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia will be imported from Japan.

“This will allow for a faster introduction of new products to markets like Thailand, as well as build the Subaru brand through models in the premium segment that prioritize technology,” read the official statement from TC Subaru.

Nevertheless, consumers need not worry as service and aftersales support will remain available as usual for Subaru owners in Thailand.

“Reliable customer service, aftersales, spare parts availability, and vehicle warranty standards will help maintain the quality of consumer vehicles even as we transition to new models imported from Japan,” the Subaru statement concluded.
