Hyundai's Hydrogen Cars Awaited in Indonesia, Ecosystem Building Underway

KatadataOTO – Hyundai Motor Group continues to develop the eco-friendly vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. Most recently, the South Korean brand has partnered with PT Pertamina.

This collaboration is in the form of preparing for the launch of an on-site hydrogen refueling station using Pertamina's CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) infrastructure in 2027.

In addition, Hyundai is also collaborating with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Ministry of National Development Planning, and the West Java Provincial government.

The plan was announced at the Global Hydrogen Ecosystem Summit in Jakarta.

The ecosystem in question is waste-to-hydrogen or W2H in West Java Province. In the process, Hyundai, together with the relevant ministries, will secure the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA) area.

In the future, biogas extract will be used to produce low-carbon hydrogen through a steam methane reformer from Hyundai Rotem.

This is one proof of the company's commitment to its social responsibility to the surrounding community, supported by Good Neighbors and Sejin G&E.

Then, the strategic partnership between Hyundai Motor Group and Pertamina will pave the way for the comprehensive development of the hydrogen ecosystem.
