Wholesales 20 Best-Selling Electric Cars in Indonesia 2025: BYD Dominates

KatadataOTO – Last year, the wholesales figures for electric cars, or the distribution of units from factories to dealers, showed a fairly positive trend.

Processed from data from the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), total electric car wholesales in Indonesia for the January-December 2025 period were 103,915 units.

This figure increased sharply compared to the electric car wholesales in the previous year, which was 43,188 units.

In detail, the BYD Atto 1 was the car most distributed to dealers. Although it was only launched in July 2025, the model's wholesales reached 22,582 units.

Next is the Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) BYD M6 with a total of 10,682 units, followed by the BYD Sealion 7 with 8,402 units.

BYD's sub-brand, Denza D9, also contributed 7,474 units. Then, the wholesales for the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Chery J6 and its newest variant, the J6T, were 6,070 units.

Among the 20 brands with the highest wholesales, only VinFast is not a Chinese brand. The VinFast e34 was distributed in a quantity of 5,974 units.

South Korean manufacturers were not in the top 10. Hyundai recorded wholesales of 779 units for the Ioniq 5, while the Kona EV had 836 units.

However, in 2026, the electric car trend is predicted to change, especially after automotive incentives such as import subsidies are discontinued.
