Nissan's sales in Indonesia mirror the continuous decline in its home country, amidst various challenges.
Looking at the Gaikindo data, Nissan is no longer even distributing units from the factory to dealers, recording zero units.
Not only in Indonesia, Nissan's sales in its home country have also declined. Towards the end of May 2025, it was reported that they offered their employees early retirement.
Other negative rumors have often circulated. Such as Nissan's plan to sell its assets, including its office. Yet, their office location is considered strategic and has a value of more than 100 billion yen or around Rp 11.3 trillion in rupiah.
This was done to improve the difficult situation currently being experienced by Nissan.
As of April 2025, Nissan's sales of small vehicles in Japan fell by 14.6 percent from the previous year. Meanwhile, the number of registered vehicles plummeted by 21.6 percent, and global sales dropped by 7.2 percent.
Their export records did not yield good results, falling by 14.8 percent compared to 2024.
It is not yet certain what the future holds for Nissan, especially in Indonesia. However, they are currently focused on presenting cars with e-Power hybrid technology like the Kicks and Serena.
This year, one of their new products rumored to debut is the X-Trail e-Power. That model has the potential to trigger an increase in Nissan's sales amidst the rising trend of SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles).
