KatadataOTO – The long holiday for Isra Miraj and Chinese New Year 2025 is just days away. Thousands of people are predicted to leave the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek - Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi).
This could potentially cause vehicle build-up in several locations. Especially those heading towards the Central Java region.
Based on the above, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), and the Ministry of Public Works (Kemen PU) have taken several anticipatory measures.
They will implement traffic engineering during the Chinese New Year and Isra Miraj 2025 holidays. It is hoped this will minimize traffic congestion.
“The Ministry of Transportation, together with the National Police Traffic Corps and the Ministry of Public Works, has officially issued a Joint Decree (SKB) which contains traffic regulations,” said Ahmad Yani, Acting Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (21/1).
Ahmad revealed that this step was taken to improve the safety and comfort aspects of public travel during the upcoming long holiday.
A number of traffic engineering schemes have been prepared. Such as the implementation of one-way and contraflow systems.
“Regulation is important to create smooth traffic flow so that everyone traveling can feel comfortable and secure, prioritizing the aspect of safety,” he said.
He revealed that there are a number of locations where one-way and contraflow systems will be implemented during the Isra Miraj and Chinese New Year 2025 holidays.
Yani further stated that traffic engineering is implemented as needed. And based on conditions on the ground.
Furthermore, it will be in accordance with traffic engineering indicators, evaluations, and other considerations based on police discretion.
