The B50 fuel policy will take effect in the second half of 2026.

Technically, the B50 program is designed to cover the remaining diesel imports that still exist under the current B40 policy.

Meanwhile, next year, diesel imports are estimated to reach 4.9 million kiloliters. This is equivalent to 10.58 percent of the total national demand.

Based on the facts above, the implementation of B50 will eliminate import dependency and make the diesel supply entirely sourced from domestic resources.

Ethanol Also

On the other hand, to reduce dependency on fuel imports, the government will not only implement B50 in the near future.

However, Bahlil Lahadalia also plans to implement a 10 percent ethanol mandate, or E10, for fuel domestically.

With various considerations, the government will implement the new regulation in two years.

"In 2027, we will mandate blending our gasoline with E10 up to E20," said Bahlil.
