10 Best-selling Cars in Indonesia January 2025, Innova Overtakes Brio

KatadataOTO – Wholesales (distribution from factory to dealer) of new cars throughout January were recorded at 61,843 units. For comparison, this figure is down 11.3 percent from January 2024, which was 69,758 units.

Previously, January's wholesales figures were still dominated by Toyota and Lexus with 22,132 units, followed by Daihatsu with 9,983 units and then Honda with 7,276 units.

Looking in more detail at the data from Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries), several models contributed varying figures.

For example, the Kijang Innova and Kijang Innova Zenix duo. They contributed 2,492 units and 2,679 units respectively to Toyota's sales last month, with a total of 5,171 units, placing them in the top spot for best-selling cars in Indonesia.

Then, the combination of the Honda Brio RS and the Satya type, the backbone of PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor)'s sales, achieved wholesales of 4,830 units.

Meanwhile, the three-row LCGC Sigra provided the largest number for Daihatsu, with 3,603 units distributed to dealers in January 2025. This figure was followed by the Gran Max pickup with 2,982 units.

Among the 10 best-selling cars in January 2025, it seems no electric car has made it onto the list. There are only gasoline-powered vehicles and HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles).

However, newcomers like BYD (Build Your Dreams) have started to contribute and overtake other Chinese manufacturers. BYD's wholesales last month reached 1,114 units.

Looking at the economic conditions, Gaikindo has set a car sales target in Indonesia of 850 thousand units, the same as the achievement in 2024. However, there is a possibility of a correction to 750 thousand units or an increase to 900 thousand units.
