Japanese manufacturers dominated the top 20 best-selling cars in July 2025, even though Chinese companies still made it onto the list.

KatadataOTO – Car sales in Indonesia from factory to dealer in July 2025 successfully increased compared to the previous month. Based on Gaikindo data, wholesales of four-wheeled vehicles successfully recorded a figure of 60,552 units, a slight increase from last month's 57,799 units.
However, this figure is still lower than the achievement in the same period last year. At that time, wholesales reached 74,230 units, or 18.4 percent more.
The market, which continues to experience pressure, is said to be making manufacturers more cautious in producing and sending stock to dealers. This is done so that cars do not pile up and potentially damage prices.
Purchasing power and changes in preference are also considered to be one of the causes of the decline in vehicle sales.
“Bank Indonesia (BI) consumer data in our presentation shows that the current economic condition index has weakened, especially the job availability index (falling below 100),” said Josua Pardede, Chief Economist of Permata Bank to KatadataOTO, on Monday (11/08).
It should be noted that the top five are dominated by Toyota cars. Only the Daihatsu Sigra managed to steal the second position with wholesales of 2,951 units.
The Toyota Avanza became the best-selling model after shipping 3,348 units from the factory to dealers. Then there is the Calya in third place with a shipment total of 2,525 units.
The Toyota Kijang Innova Reborn entered the top five after supplying 2,451 units to dealers. Meanwhile, the Rush rounded out the top five with an achievement of 2,400 units.
Interestingly, not a single model from Chery made it into the top 20 in July 2025. Even though last month, the Tiggo 8 CSH managed to secure the 13th position.
