KatadataOTO – The PT HMMI (Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia) factory produces a number of Hyundai vehicle lines, marketed both domestically and for export needs. Recently, we (KatadataOTO) and several media outlets had the opportunity to visit the location directly.

The factory visit was initiated by Hyundai Gowa, with the intention of showcasing the sophistication of the Hyundai factory, which is the birthplace of models like the Kona Electric, Santa Fe, and the latest Creta, including the N Line type.

“We can see that the factory is one of the most advanced in Southeast Asia. Some of its facilities are already automated (using robots),” said Ferry, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Gowa some time ago.

For your information, the Hyundai factory is located at the Greenland International Industrial Center, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. There are several advantages offered, one of which is the use of AC facilities in almost all areas of the factory.

Hyundai itself claims that their factory is the first manufacturer in Indonesia to be equipped with AC.

For factory operations, Hyundai uses environmentally friendly technology such as solar panels to supply operational electricity in the assembly shop area.

Moving on to the vehicle painting process, the Hyundai factory uses water-based paint with a lower volatile organic compound content compared to other types of paint.

It should be noted that volatile organic compounds are organic compounds that evaporate easily. They are wide-ranging and have various levels of toxicity.

Interestingly, many robots are already working systematically in the factory. In certain areas, factory workers are only tasked with moving components processed by robots from one place to another.

Overall, the Hyundai factory's production capacity is 150,000 units. However, it can be maximized up to 250,000 units per year.

In more detail, the models assembled at the facility include the Santa Fe Hybrid, Kona EV, Stargazer, New Creta, and the New Creta N Line.

Several Southeast Asian countries are Hyundai's export targets, namely Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Therefore, Hyundai ensures that all vehicle lines offered to consumers are high-quality products.

“We witness together that Hyundai cars are produced in a factory with the latest technology and strict quality control, certainly for the safety and comfort of our customers,” Ferry emphasized.
