Assessing the Opportunity for Chery Tiggo 7 CSH in Indonesia

KatadataOTO – Chery Tiggo 7 CSH is a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) offered in the global market, including Australia.

In Indonesia, PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has offered a PHEV lineup such as the Tiggo 8 CSH and Tiggo 9 CSH.

Meanwhile, sales of the gasoline-engine configured Tiggo 7 appear to have been discontinued. The model's name is no longer on Chery's official website.

“The Chery Tiggo 7 has been discontinued,” said a Chery salesperson when contacted by KatadataOTO recently.

There is a chance its PHEV variant will be introduced as a replacement. It should be noted that currently all products in the Tiggo series, such as the Tiggo Cross, Tiggo 8, and 9, have a hybrid variant, also known as Chery Super Hybrid (CSH).

In Malaysia, the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH launched on October 3, 2025. Locally assembled, the car is sold for RM 129,800 or around IDR 533.5 million when converted to rupiah.

The Chery Tiggo 7 CSH is equipped with a 1,500 cc engine combined with an electric motor. The combined performance of the two is claimed to produce 279 PS (275.1 hp) of power and 365 Nm of peak torque, delivered to the front wheels.

Just like the Tiggo 8 CSH, the Tiggo 7 CSH is supported by an 18.3 kWh battery. Without gasoline assistance, the model is claimed to have a pure electric range of 90 kilometers and a comprehensive range claim similar to the Tiggo 8 CSH at 1,200 kilometers.

For your information, Chery has not explicitly stated that the Chery Tiggo 7 is no longer being sold, although on one occasion, a representative from PT CSI said that stock of the model is no longer available.

“Of course not (discontinued). We are still looking at the strategy because each of the Tiggo 5, 6, and 7 models has a different segmentation,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI in Bekasi some time ago.

Therefore, the Tiggo 7 has the potential to continue being sold domestically with a PHEV technology option, like other Tiggo series models.

The Chery Tiggo 7 CSH could be an attractive option for an eco-friendly 5-seater SUV, filling the class above the Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid.
