KatadataOTO – The Attorney General's Office seized a number of assets allegedly belonging to Mohammad Riza Chalid. He is a suspect in a case of alleged crude oil corruption at PT Pertamina for the 2018-2023 period.
Reported by Antara, the Attorney General's Office conducted searches in three locations simultaneously: Depok, Pondok Indah, and Tegal Parang. During these activities, at least five motor vehicles were successfully secured.
The cars are from European and Japanese brands. Although not explained in detail, it is confirmed that the vehicles consist of three Mercedes-Benz units, one Mini unit, and one Toyota Alphard.
Although they have been seized, the value of the cars has not yet been determined. The agency still needs to conduct an inspection before determining it.
“The value is still being calculated,” said Angang Supriatna, Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office.
Of the five cars, only the Mini is white, while the other models are black. At a glance, their condition appears to be quite well-maintained, so it is not impossible that their estimated value remains high.
Not only cars, they also seized a sum of money in several foreign currencies. The amount is also claimed to be still in the process of being calculated.
As a result, the state suffered losses of up to Rp 285 trillion. The magnitude of this figure immediately caught public attention.
It should be noted that Muhammad Riza Chalid as the beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak is one of eight new suspects in the alleged corruption case concerning the governance of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina Subholding and Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) from 2018–2023.
One of the acts that implicated Riza Chalid was approving the lease cooperation for the Merak Fuel Tank Terminal. He reportedly intervened in PT Pertamina's governance policies by including the plan for the Merak Fuel Terminal lease cooperation.
This was despite PT Pertamina not needing additional fuel stock storage at the time. As a result, the state reportedly suffered losses of up to Rp 285 trillion.
