KatadataOTO – Auto2000 welcomes the upcoming new hybrid car from Toyota at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week event. The presence of this model is believed to be able to boost vehicle sales at the end of the year.

This is because their customers have recently been preferring hybrid cars over ICE.

“So, almost all of our upper and middle-class consumers have already chosen hybrid,” said Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Chief Executive Officer of Auto2000.

The models he referred to are the Toyota Alphard, Innova Zenix, and Yaris Cross. These three models are considered the backbone of Toyota's hybrid sales at Auto2000.

“For the Alphard and Innova Zenix, the composition of customers choosing hybrid is already 80 to 90 percent. Meanwhile, for the Yaris Cross, it's over 90 percent,” he then added.

Therefore, whatever model is launched, he believes it can increase sales at the end of the year. This includes sales programs to make it easier for the public to make transactions.

“Whatever it takes will be done to boost sales because the market is currently still at 60 to 70 thousand units. This is a significant drop compared to the previous year,” added Anton.

It was previously reported that Toyota has committed to launching a hybrid car at GJAW 2025. The model is believed to be the Veloz Hybrid.

Based on information from a salesperson, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid will use the platform from the Q TSS type. However, the manufacturer has included an EV mode button, allowing the owner to drive entirely on battery power without engaging the gasoline engine.

Thanks to this, the fuel consumption of Toyota's new hybrid car can be even more efficient when used by the owner. On the other hand, the Toyota Veloz Hybrid is believed to rely on a similar powertrain as its sibling.

“If the engine has the exact specifications of the Yaris Cross and is put into the Veloz, the battery will also be the same,” the salesperson continued.

If what the salesperson said is true, then the Toyota Veloz Hybrid will carry a 2NR-VEX 1,500 cc four-cylinder inline VVT-i engine.

On paper, it is claimed to be able to produce up to 89 hp at 5,500 rpm, while the peak torque reaches 121 Nm at 4,000–4,800 rpm.
