Bridgestone Launches Turanza 6 for Electric Vehicles

KatadataOTO – Bridgestone has officially launched their new product, the Turanza 6. The tire is claimed to have received various improvements compared to the previous product, the Turanza T005A.

Interestingly, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 is claimed to be suitable for electric cars. This certainly makes it easier for EV owners to replace their tires if the original ones are damaged.

The Japanese manufacturer emphasized that during its development, they specifically designed the tire to dampen the noise it produces.

“To make a tire for an electric car, there are several factors that must be considered, including noise. This is because the nature of EVs is very quiet, so even the slightest foreign sound can be disturbing,” stated Fisa Rizqiano, Deputy Head of OE Sales at PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia this afternoon (22/01).

He also explained that the Bridgestone Turanza 6 has been designed in such a way that the tire wall is more flexible yet remains strong. The goal is to reduce vibrations entering the cabin, making the ride more comfortable.

Not only that, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 is also equipped with a new compound made from various materials, making it softer and enhancing comfort.

Furthermore, its tread design is new, giving it high grip even on wet roads. This advantage is certainly very important as Indonesia has quite high rainfall.

“The tire is made to be able to channel about 5 liters of water per second when the car is at a speed of 60 km/h. The hope is, of course, to avoid aquaplaning, which can occur especially during the rainy season,” he added.

The Bridgestone Turanza 6 is available in 34 sizes to meet the market needs in Indonesia. Ranging from SUVs, MPVs, sedans to hatchbacks, which represent the largest market segments.

However, customers will have to wait a little longer to get the new product. This is because the new tire will be available in official stores starting from February 2025.

“The price varies depending on the size and the policy of each store,” concluded Fisa Rizqiano.
