KatadataOTO – Although it has been present in Indonesia for less than a full year, BYD has successfully received a positive response in Indonesia. This is evident from the high vehicle sales figures, especially in the electric vehicle segment.
Based on Gaikindo data, BYD's wholesales reached 15,429 units while retail sales were 13,964 units. With this, the manufacturer has successfully secured the 11th position among the best-selling manufacturers in the country.
“Although not for a full year, BYD has become an important manufacturer in Indonesia, especially in the electric car segment. We have sold (wholesales) more than 15,000 units and captured a market share of 36 percent of the total EV market,” affirmed Eagle Zhou, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia.
This achievement is inseparable from the various strategies the manufacturer has implemented throughout 2024.
“The first thing we did was to collaborate with several local companies to build a vehicle network. We have 35 dealers spread across 20 cities and will continue to expand in 2025,” he added.
Meanwhile, in 2025, they affirmed they will be more aggressive in developing the electric vehicle market in the country. This is because the manufacturer will launch several new products that are believed to be positively received by the public.
One of them is the Denza D9, which enters the luxury MPV segment. This car is reported to use a 103 kWh LFP BYD Battery with a range of 520 km (FWD) and 480 km (AWD) based on the WLTC testing method.
In terms of performance, the FWD type is claimed to produce 308.4 hp and 360 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the AWD variant is more powerful at 482.7 hp with 470 Nm of torque, making it easier for the vehicle to conquer various road conditions.
The estimated price of the BYD Denza D9 is between Rp 1.2 billion and Rp 1.3 billion. Orders can now be placed with a booking fee of Rp 50 million.
However, the new units will be shipped from their country of origin around February 2025. Then, the delivery of the units will likely take place between March and May 2025.
