This Chinese manufacturer will also require tens of thousands of employees to be placed there.

“We need nearly 18 thousand workers,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government Relations on his personal Instagram account, Friday (21/03).

Luther explained that the BYD factory in Subang will open a number of job vacancies. Such as for engineering and electronics positions.

Dedi Mulyadi, Governor of West Java, also welcomed the presence of BYD's production facility. Because it can absorb a lot of labor.

Therefore, the number one person in Bandung, Tasik, and other areas intends to prepare the community to be able to work at the factory.

“This year, the West Java provincial government must prepare 18 thousand prospective workers for BYD, both skilled and unskilled labor,” said Dedi in the same post.

To realize his plan, Dedi immediately instructed the Regent of Subang, West Java, to provide tens of thousands of prospective employees for the BYD factory.

He asked that the prospective workers have a strong mentality, so they can give their maximum ability to the EV (Electric Vehicle) manufacturer.

“They work well in Japan and Arabia, so why not here in Subang? The point is, West Java is special,” Dedi said.

Besides the workforce, Dedi Mulyadi also discussed various issues for the operational readiness of the BYD factory.

“We just had a meeting to resolve many issues. Such as electricity, road networks, and toll gate access. On Monday, we will speak with the Minister of Public Works,” affirmed the Governor of West Java.

For your information, the BYD factory in Indonesia is scheduled to be completed this year and will immediately start production.

Significantly, the facility is planned to cost USD 1 billion or the equivalent of IDR 16.2 trillion.

It will later have a production capacity of up to 150,000 units a year. This large number is expected to be optimized gradually in line with the increasing demand for electric cars in the country.
