KatadataOTOChina continues its efforts to show its dominance in the electric car market. Various efforts have been undertaken by several parties.

This includes presenting a ship for transporting four-wheeled vehicles, even claimed to be the largest in the world.

“A car carrier for 10,800 cars built by Guangzhou Shipyard International for a South Korean company has left the dock,” wrote a Cnevpost report, Tuesday (27/01).

It was further explained that the ship already meets the Tier III emission standards of the maritime organization. It has also surpassed several other transport ships.

This is because previously two ships owned by Anji Logistics, namely Anji Soundness and Anji Ansheng, had a carrying capacity of up to 9,500 electric cars.

However, these twin ships have been surpassed. So they are no longer the largest in the world.

“The newest car carrier with a capacity of 10,800 has a length of 230 meters, a width of 40 meters, and a structural hull depth of 10.5 meters,” they continued.

Inside, there are 14 decks, allowing it to transport many types of vehicles. From Electric Vehicles (EVs), hydrogen-powered ones, to trucks.

Of course, this indicates that manufacturers from China are very serious about marketing their electric cars abroad.

This is because brands from the Land of the Bamboo Curtain are looking for ways to stimulate the market. Because the demand for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the domestic market is projected to decline in 2026.

It is mentioned that China's automotive exports will increase by up to 25 percent. Then breaking records as it is expected to reach seven million units.

“Car manufacturers are trying to offset the decline in domestic sales of gasoline cars and the slowdown in EV growth,” read a Financial Times report some time ago.

Furthermore, it is mentioned that China's electric car exports are expected to jump beyond 50 percent or become 3.7 million units in 2026.

Meanwhile, for gasoline-powered four-wheeled vehicles, there is an increase of about four percent or 3.4 million units.

Even analysts in China say that their country's four-wheeled vehicle exports will reach 9.4 million units by 2030.

The number above is double the figure shipped by BYD, Chery, and Changan in 2024.

“The automotive market faces extraordinary growth pressure in 2026,” said Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

According to data, Chinese electric cars will flood a number of countries. Such as Mexico, the Middle East, Russia, and parts of Europe.
