BYD Becomes Best-Selling Chinese Car Brand in 2025, Sells 44,000 Units

BYD is separating the models that will be offered as passenger cars and commercial vehicles for taxi fleets.
KatadataOTO – The use of mass-produced models for taxi fleets often creates a negative image, causing consumers to avoid them. Anticipating this, BYD has launched a new sub-brand called Linghui.
Reported by Carnewschina, BYD was observed registering a brand named Linghui, which includes four car models: Linghui e5, e7, e9, and M9.
This was revealed in data from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, or MIIT.
“The data reveals a new logo for the Linghui brand. BYD intends to differentiate these models from the existing lineup,” wrote the Carnewschina report, quoted on Monday (12/01).
At a glance, the registered cars resemble BYD's current vehicle lineup. However, there are slight differences, such as in the logo design and grille character.
Upon closer inspection, the Linghui e5 is based on the BYD Qin Plus EV sedan with dimensions of 4,805 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, 1,530 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,718 mm.
The main difference lies in the grille, which uses black-colored material. There is no BYD logo; instead, the Linghui symbol is on the front.
Then there is the Linghui e7. The model appears to adopt the Ocean series design language, specifically the BYD Seal.
Again, a difference is seen in the logo on the front hood. Furthermore, the Linghui e7 lacks the sporty character of the BYD Seal, being simpler with the use of conventional door handles.
Next is the Linghui e9. This sedan is based on the BYD Han electric car and has a more luxurious appearance.
The grille and hood area are decorated with chromatic-colored ornaments. Similarly colored accents are embedded on the side mirrors, door handles, and car window frames.
Lastly is the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) Linghui M9, which is based on the BYD Xia, also known as the BYD M9 in the global market.
The Linghui M9 will be available in a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) variant, while the other Linghui models will be exclusively available as pure electric cars or Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV).
Although not yet officially revealed, it seems BYD is not only making exterior adjustments but also technical specifications to meet the needs of taxi fleets.
It is not yet known when Linghui will be introduced to the public or which countries will be its target markets.
