60 percent of consumers buy vehicles on credit, BYD will facilitate this through its own independent leasing company.
KatadataOTO – BYD is planning to have its own leasing or financing institution in 2026. This is expected to make it easier for consumers to own an electric car.
It should be noted that BYD currently still utilizes financing institutions available in the country.
The presence of BYD leasing will later offer more benefits that may not be offered by other domestic institutions.
“So we are in the final stages of establishing a vehicle financing company,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia in Sentul, Bogor on Thursday (11/12).
Luther explained that the establishment of BYD leasing is important because it is part of the automotive ecosystem.
Furthermore, many vehicle buyers in Indonesia currently purchase on credit or installments through financing institutions.
So the presence of BYD leasing will have a significant impact on making it easier for consumers who want to use an Electric Vehicle (EV).
“What's also important is to maintain the resale value (of BYD cars). Because strong and solid financials provide a confidence level to vehicle buyers in the long term, so we will start this next year,” said Luther.
He was still reluctant to explain the scheme that makes it different from other financing institutions, but emphasized that BYD leasing can provide more support for consumers.
“Because if the financing is owned by BYD, we have the exclusive right to provide support that may not be given by other financing institutions,” Luther emphasized.
For your information, BYD currently sells six electric car models in the Indonesian market. All are offered with prices ranging from Rp 199 million to Rp 700 million on the road in Jakarta.
This brand has received a positive response from consumers since its presence in the country. Especially when they launched the Rp 190 million electric car, the BYD Atto 1.
If BYD leasing officially operates in 2026, customers will find it easier to have installment schemes according to their needs. This will allow them to freely choose the desired BYD car and contribute to boosting sales in 2026.
