The BYD Seagull is confirmed to debut at GIIAS 2025, targeting Indonesian consumers in the entry-level segment.
KatadataOTO – BYD Seagull is getting closer to its launch in Indonesia. The newest electric car from the Chinese brand is said to have undergone a series of tests.
It is reported that BYD Motor Indonesia will occupy the largest booth at GIIAS 2025 (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show).
The size of their booth at the automotive event is not yet known. However, it is certain that BYD will be more aggressive this year.
“We will definitely bring products that are more suitable for specific market segments. And of course, certain (segments) that we don't have yet,” said Luther T. Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, at the M6 1st-anniversary celebration in Bogor, West Java (15/06).
Speaking specifically about the model that will enter the country's automotive market, the BYD Seagull is widely discussed. The City Car EV (Electric Vehicle) is rumored to be targeting the entry-level class.
It is said that BYD's newest electric car has been very well prepared. So, the launch is just a matter of waiting for the right time.
“Like the preparation of a product in terms of certification, roadworthiness tests, to logistics. Because this should be a car for massive use,” explained Luther.
Indirectly, the new model from BYD Indonesia is an electric vehicle that can be affordable for many people.
Including first-time car buyers. Therefore, the brand from China is making various special preparations.
“Like some brands, we have to prepare the fundamental aspects of product delivery readiness. For that (model), I can say everything is complete,” he then said.
According to a BYD salesperson, the estimated price of the Seagull in Indonesia starts from Rp 250 million. This price point is the most attractive segment in the country.
As an electric vehicle, the BYD Seagull is equipped with two battery options: 30.08 kWh and 38.88 kWh. This allows the unit to travel a distance of 305 km to 405 km using the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) method.
The electric motor installed in the BYD Seagull is believed to be capable of producing 55 kW or 74 hp of power. Meanwhile, its peak torque reaches 135 Nm.
