A twin model of the BYD Seal will be marketed as the Seal 07 EV, launching first in China this year.
KatadataOTO – The BYD Seal has a twin in its home country, namely the Seal 07. The model was previously available in a DM-i option, also known as a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
The design of the BYD Seal 07 EV was revealed in documents from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China.
According to Carnewschina, the BYD Seal 07 EV is equipped with a 69.07 kWh capacity battery that offers a range of 705 kilometers on a single charge.
Furthermore, the BYD Seal 07 EV uses a single electric motor with a power of 240 kW, equivalent to 321.8 hp.
For comparison, the BYD Seal in Indonesia is available with a 61.44 kWh battery option for the Standard Range variant, offering a range of 510 kilometers.
Meanwhile, the Extended Range and AWD types use an 82.56 kWh battery, with ranges of 650 kilometers and 580 kilometers, respectively.
In terms of design, the Seal 07 still retains the characteristic features of both the Seal and the Seal 07 DM-i. Without many additional ornaments, the exterior appears sleek thanks to the use of hidden door handles.
However, a sensor or roof-mounted LiDAR is visible, right above the car's windshield. The LiDAR sensor indicates the presence of a more capable Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
Speaking of dimensions, its size is still the same as the PHEV variant with a length of 4,995 mm, width of 1,910 mm, height of 1,495 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.
This size is slightly larger than the BYD Seal in Indonesia, which is 4,800 mm x 1,875 mm x 1,460 mm.
There is no detailed information yet regarding the launch time of the BYD Seal 07 EV. For Indonesian consumers, BYD has now introduced the latest version of the Seal, which is equipped with the DiSus-C suspension system.
The Seal is still the only electric sedan offered by BYD. Other products offered in the country include the Dolphin, Atto 3, Sealion 7, M6, and the newest, the compact EV Atto 1.
This year, BYD has the opportunity to introduce a new sedan. However, the brand that has been registered on the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI) page is the BYD King.
