KatadataOTO – BYD officially launched the Sealion 7 at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025. This car comes with various attractions and is suitable for those who want a high-performance electric vehicle.
However, the Chinese manufacturer emphasized that the vehicle's range remains a concern. This is to ensure customers do not feel anxious when driving the unit.
“BYD has become one of the largest electric car manufacturers in Indonesia despite only officially selling units for about seven months,” said Eagle Zhou, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia (13/02).
The BYD Sealion 7 comes in two variant options: Premium and Performance. Although the differences are not significant, the manufacturer claims that the top-tier type uses 20-inch wheels to increase grip even when used at high speeds.
As for the Premium, the size is slightly smaller at just 19 inches.
In general, the BYD Sealion 7 features a sharp design, especially on the front side. Several aerodynamic lines have been embedded to make the vehicle's appearance seem more dynamic.
For a more luxurious feel, the car is equipped with a 2.1 m2 Panoramic Roof. Meanwhile, inside the cabin, comfort is enhanced as the seats are upholstered in leather.
Besides the wheels, another difference is the vehicle's performance. Although it uses a battery with the same capacity, the power produced by the Premium type is smaller, at only 308 hp and 380 Nm of torque.
With this, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in 6.7 seconds. Meanwhile, its range is 567 km on a single charge.
The Performance type offers greater power, at 522 hp and 690 Nm of torque. With this, the car can reach 100 km per hour in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 215 km per hour.
That performance comes at the cost of range, which is reduced to just 542 km.
