BYD Sealion 7 dominates orders after its launch, and prospective owners can use it for the Eid al-Fitr homecoming.
KatadataOTO – BYD Indonesia confirms that their newest electric car model, the BYD Sealion 7, has been well received by the market. Just about 2 weeks after its launch at IIMS 2025, the number of issued Vehicle Order Letters (SPK) dominated, accounting for almost half of the total orders.
Luther T Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government Relations at BYD Indonesia, did not mention the exact figures for their total electric SUV sales. However, the initial number of orders is quite promising.
"Currently, 50 percent of BYD's orders in Indonesia come from the Sealion 7, and our market in general continues to grow," explained Luther on the sidelines of the BYD Sealion media drive event in Bandung, West Java.
On the same occasion, he also confirmed that unit deliveries to consumers will be carried out in the near future. He stated that they have learned from previous delivery experiences and that the unit supply is now secure.
"If last time it took us a maximum of 3 months, hopefully, it will be faster now. Currently, we will pursue the unit supply and can ensure that some consumers will be able to enjoy it during the 2025 Eid holiday, especially for those who ordered in the early days of the last IIMS exhibition," Luther affirmed.
The BYD Sealion 7 itself is offered in 2 variant options: premium and performance.
The difference between the two lies in the power output, driving range, and drivetrain system.
The Premium variant is equipped with an electric motor producing 230 kW of power and 390 Nm of torque. It is said to have a battery that can be used for up to 567 km with a rear-wheel drive system.
Thanks to this combination, it is claimed to be able to reach a speed of 100 km/h from a standstill in 6.7 seconds. The car can also be pushed to a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
Meanwhile, the Performance variant is equipped with an electric motor producing 390 kW of power and 690 Nm of torque. Its battery can be used for a driving range of up to 542 km with an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system.
This superior performance variant version can accelerate from 0 - 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Meanwhile, its top speed remains the same at 250 km/h.
The BYD Sealion 7 Premium variant is priced at IDR 629 million. While the Performance is sold at a price of IDR 719 million.
