BYD showcased its most advanced Autopilot technology that can pamper drivers during the journey.
KatadataOTO – BYD Indonesia showcased the latest technology developed in its home country, China. It is an autopilot system called God’s Eye.
The aforementioned feature is described as an assistance system that can almost replace the driver's role, thus pampering consumers on every journey.
However, this innovation has just been introduced in China. For the domestic market, it cannot be implemented in the near future.
Although it is a software system, it cannot be simply installed via the cloud because the supporting components are not yet available.
“Indeed, the intelligent driving system works using software. But it cannot be transferred via OTA (Over The Air), because it depends on the hardware and camera system,” said Zheng Cuifang, Product Strategy Manager of BYD Auto Industry at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta (17/02).
Furthermore, it was stated that the God's Eye innovation will be embedded in BYD's latest future models. Even for export markets, including Indonesia, it will require years of research.
“I think in 2026 or 2027 (it will enter Indonesia). At least we must have two years of experience first in China to ensure this technology is mature,” said Cheryl, as she is known.
It was then conveyed that before it is truly sold domestically, BYD must conduct several trials. This is because the characteristics of road users in China and in the country are different.
“We need time to conduct road tests in Indonesia. That's why it takes longer; this technology is for new models,” she revealed.
One of the highlighted features is called iTAC (Intelligent Torque Adaption Control). It is claimed to be more advanced than conventional stability control systems.
BYD Sealion 7 is the first model to use God’s Eye, as it has adopted an electric motor drive system on all four wheels.
It functions to improve handling when the vehicle is cornering, thus improving tire traction and of course maintaining safety during travel and maneuvers.
iTAC is directly connected to the drive motor, minimizing the potential for slippage, so the car can still be controlled by the driver.
In fact, the system's accuracy level is claimed to be 300 times that of the conventional version. It can predict wheel speed changes 50 milliseconds faster than the previous edition.
