Check out the advantages of Geely Starship 7, a challenger to Tiggo 8 and Jaecoo J7

KatadataOTO – Geely Auto is preparing to bring a new model to the Indonesian automotive market. They are reportedly conducting in-depth research.

Several models have the potential to enter the country. Previously, KatadataOTO reviewed the Geely Starwish or Geome Xingyuan.

Now we will discuss the Geely Xingjian 7 or Starship 7. This SUV uses a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) powertrain.

If it enters Indonesia, it will compete with the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH and Jaecoo J7 SHS. Each brand offers its own advantages to attract consumers.

However, it's clear that the main advantage is its longer range. This will benefit its future buyers.

During a visit to China some time ago, KatadataOTO had the opportunity to test the Geely Starship 7.

In terms of appearance, this PHEV SUV is not much different from the EX5 already marketed in the country. However, the shape of the Starship 7's lights is elongated, both at the front and rear.

This makes the front and rear lights appear connected from left to right. Although the main headlights are located at the bottom.

The next difference is the wheel design, which is shaped like a flower petal. Then, the car's body curves and dimensions are nearly identical to the EX5.

In terms of range, the Geely Starship 7 is claimed to achieve 37 km/liter. The vehicle's total range with a full tank of fuel reaches 1,430 km.

Using the NordThor system and powered by a 1,500 cc engine from Geely, it is claimed to achieve a thermal efficiency of up to 46.5 percent.

The electric motor from the unit can produce up to 214 hp with a thermal efficiency of 98.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the technology developed by Geely is said to be capable of running on methanol. It can also operate in extreme temperatures of minus 35 degrees Celsius.

The EM-I system is also said to have backup technology. So if one of its power sources fails, the vehicle can still operate normally.

The Geely Galaxy Starship 7 is also claimed to have undergone a series of tests. As a result, the vehicle's quality is not in doubt; it's just a matter of waiting for when this unit will enter Indonesia.
