Almost two years since the launch of L8, Aletra is finally ready to introduce new products for consumers this year.
KatadataOTO – Electric car brand Aletra is set to introduce a new product for Indonesian consumers in the second quarter of 2026.
This is one form of Aletra's commitment to strengthening its presence in the Indonesian market. It's not limited to targeting fleet consumers but also individuals.
Currently, Aletra is still focused on selling one electric car model, the Aletra L8 EV, which falls into the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment.
“(Possibly) in the second quarter (2026), just wait and see. It will definitely meet the target (consumer needs),” said Christo Antyo, Product Manager of Aletra, when met in Purwakarta on Wednesday (21/01).
Looking at the Indonesian market, the trend is still strong for MPVs and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs).
Although Aletra is still reluctant to reveal their new model, there are several models that are candidates.
For example, the Aletra RL7. Just like the L8 EV, Aletra's car lineup will still be based on the original product from its home country, Livan, a sub-brand of the Geely Group.
Considering Geely is already present as a separate entity, Aletra will likely not bring Geely-based models to Indonesian consumers.
The Aletra RL7 is sold in China as the Geely Livan 7, filling the SUV segment. The unit was once exhibited at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week or GJAW 2024 event.
This electric car uses a two-tone color combination and a bright exterior. However, there are not many additional components or body kits on the entire body.
The interior of the Aletra RL7 electric car was not revealed to the public during the exhibition. But at a glance, the cabin looks minimalist, like most recent Electric Vehicles (EVs).
At the GJAW 2024 event, Aletra also gathered opinions from visitors and consumers regarding the presence of the RL7.
Seeing this, there is a chance that the RL7 will be the next product introduced by Aletra in Indonesia.
“You will definitely be invited (for the new product launch). Just wait and see,” Christo said briefly.
For your information, the Aletra L8 EV is positioned as a rival to the BYD M6 electric MPV. However, Aletra emphasizes that the L8 EV targets consumers who have never driven an EV before.
The technology embedded is tailored to needs, and the L8 is claimed to be easy to drive because the driving sensation is similar to a gasoline car.
