Chery C5 Introduced in Indonesia, Omoda 5 Facelift Version

KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) is once again preparing a new product for consumers in the country. This time, there is an updated version of the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) Omoda 5.

The model's popularity began to wane after Chery introduced other SUV options like the Tiggo 8 CSH and the J6 electric car.

Chery C5 no longer uses the Omoda sub-brand name. It is then expected to help PT CSI compete again in the B-segment SUV market.

“More or less, the updates are on the suspension and transmission side. (The Chery C5) uses the best DCT transmission in its class and a multilink (rear) suspension,” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI in Tangerang, on Monday (23/05).

In terms of appearance, the most noticeable change is on the fascia. The Chery C5's grille design is more elegant and simpler compared to the previous version.

“The Chery C5 features a dynamic design, a new grille color, and arrow-shaped LED DRL (Daytime Running Light),” said Yusuf, Product Planning at PT CSI on the same occasion.

Moving to the interior, the cabin is dominated by black. Features can be controlled via a 10.25-inch screen on the front dashboard.

The center console is equipped with wireless charging and a spacious storage compartment.

To enhance driving comfort, the Chery C5 is equipped with a PM0.3 Ultra-Efficient Air Conditioning Filter air  purifier, which is claimed to filter microparticles and viruses.

Then, both the driver and passengers are pampered with dual-zone automatic AC. So, the temperature settings can be controlled individually.

The DCT transmission was previously only used on the Omoda 5 GT. This time, it is used in the Chery C5.

The claimed power and torque output are the same as the previous Omoda 5, but it is claimed to offer more responsive acceleration.

The rear suspension has been replaced with a multilink setup, increasing comfort while driving and maintaining vehicle stability.

Also present is the Automatic Engine Shut Off feature, which turns off the engine when the vehicle is stopped, helping to reduce fuel consumption.

The driver can utilize three driving modes: Eco, Normal, or Sport, according to their needs.

The Chery C5 will be launched in the near future, along with an update to the Omoda E5 electric car. That model will also come with a new name, Chery E5.
